Frequently asked questions
Which devices does Beam work on?
Android TV and Google TV with Android 9 or later. Beam is made for projectors first.
How do I make the Home button open Beam?
Open Beam settings → Remote → Remote button service and turn on “Beam: remote buttons” in the accessibility settings. On Android TV without the Google TV home screen, Beam can also become the default home app.
Does Beam remove the Google TV home screen?
No. The stock home screen stays installed; Beam opens instead of it when you press Home. To go back, turn off the service in the accessibility settings.
What does the remote button service see?
Only which remote button was pressed and when the stock Google TV home screen opens. It doesn’t read the screen, and nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
How do I hide or move an app?
Hold OK on its tile: a menu opens with Move, Hide from home, App info and Uninstall. Hidden apps come back from Beam settings → Home screen → Hidden apps.
Why don’t I see Focus or Keystone?
These buttons open the projector’s own settings screens, so they appear only on projectors Beam knows.
Which city is the weather for?
For now, Bishkek; choosing a city comes later. The forecast comes from Open-Meteo.
Is Beam free?
Yes. Beam is free and has no ads.
When will Beam be available?
Beam is in development. The first public version will be on Google Play.
