In short
- Beam has no accounts and collects no personal data.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- The remote-button service sees only which button was pressed. It doesn’t read the screen.
- The only request Beam makes is for the weather, to Open-Meteo.
- Your settings stay on your device.
What stays on your device
Beam keeps its settings (tiles, text size, clock, screensaver, hidden apps and the order of apps), the last weather forecast it received and the photos you add to the screensaver in its own storage on your device. We never receive them. Uninstalling Beam deletes them.
If Android backup is turned on, the system may include Beam’s data in your device backup to your Google account, under Google’s privacy policy. We have no access to it.
Your apps
To show your apps on the home screen, Beam reads the list of TV apps installed on the device. The list stays on the device. When you press Optimize, Beam closes apps running in the background to free memory.
Remote button service
Google TV doesn’t let you change the home screen, so Beam uses an accessibility service called “Beam: remote buttons”. It receives only remote button presses and a notice when the stock Google TV home screen opens — so that Home and app buttons can open Beam or another app.
The service can’t read what is on the screen, doesn’t record what you press, and stores and sends nothing. It is optional: you turn it on yourself in the accessibility settings, and without it the buttons work as in Google TV. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → System → Accessibility.
Weather
Beam gets the forecast from Open-Meteo. The request contains the coordinates of the weather city (for now, Bishkek) and your device’s time zone. Beam doesn’t use your device’s location. Like any website, Open-Meteo sees the IP address the request comes from — see the Open-Meteo terms. No account or key is involved.
No ads, analytics or tracking
Beam has no advertising and no analytics, shows no recommendations and doesn’t track you across apps or websites. We don’t sell data and don’t share it with anyone.
Information from Google
If you install Beam from Google Play, Google may share install statistics and crash reports with us under Google’s privacy policy. Beam itself contains no analytics.
Children
Beam has no accounts and collects no personal data, so it can be used at any age.

If Beam starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date above before the new version comes out.
